Caribbean Christmas

Promising guaranteed balmy weather, beautiful beaches and a jovial atmosphere, the Caribbean islands are a great choice for those wanting to spend Christmas in the sun.  Two of the most popular islands to celebrate are Barbados and St Lucia, both of which offer fun-filled, seasonal festivals.

Christmas in Barbados is celebrated with a festival in December. Each year trucks are dressed-up with lights and Christmas decorations and form a parade through the streets of Bridgetown and the outskirts of the city.  Hundreds of Barbadians line the route, especially little children, to watch the parade and to be greeted by Santa Claus, Frosty the Snowman, and their favourite cartoon characters - some of whom dispense a few treats along the way!

December in St. Lucia is a month-long festival, revolving around National Day celebrations and the Christmas season. The focus on National Day is building pride in the country with sporting, cultural, religious, social, and commercial activities, such as the Festival of Lights, featuring a lantern-making competition and the decoration of towns and villages with lights. Other events include the National festival of choirs, a festival of bands and a market festival akin to the market vendors feast day.

With a wealth of good value, family friendly resorts available to choose from, Christmas in the Caribbean should ‘wrap up’ nicely!
