Our friends at Zeavola Resort, the only luxury resort on Phi Phi Island in Thailand, have decided to divulge the secret of their legendary Tom Yum Martini. We thought we’d share it with you so you can recreate island nights at home.
Apparently the resort’s food and beverage manager was spending a lazy Sunday afternoon on the beach with some of his off-duty colleagues and came up with the idea while enjoying a tasty dish of Tom Yum Goong and steamed rice.
All the standard Tom Yum ingredients, minus the seafood and galangal Thai ginger, make up this special Martini. The team spent all afternoon creating and testing the perfect Tom Yum Martini blend which is now Zeavola’s signature drink.
So, how do you make it?
The perfect Tom Yum Martini
-
1 ½ oz vodka
1 oz triple sec
3 oz lemon juice
1 oz sugar syrup
Sliced lemongrass, sliced chilli, sliced kaffir lime leaves
Mix the ingredients with cracked ice in a shaker and shake well. Strain and serve in a chilled Martini glass with a rim of sea salt. Garnish with the lemongrass and chilli and twist in some lime juice. Hey presto! The original Tom Yum Martini, as enjoyed at Zeavola Resort on Phi Phi.
