1. Thailand is a Buddhist country, where Buddhist images are held sacred.  Therefore be careful what you touch, stand on and don’t take anything!
2. Dress properly when entering a Buddhist temple.  Cover up before going into a hall of worship.
3. When entering a Thai house, remember to remove your shoes.
4. Avoid placing your feet on the table while sitting, pointing at or touching anybody with your feet – it is considered rude.
5. Traditionally Thai people greet each other with a wai (by pressing their palms together at their chest).  If someone wais at you, wai back – unless wai-ed at by a child.
6. Thai people absolutely LOVE their King, and if you visit in late November around the King’s birthday, absolutely everyone wears yellow to celebrate!  Yellow t-shirts are on sale everywhere for those who want to join the party….
7. Don’t touch a Thai woman, they are very conservative – even a pat on the back can be perceived as offensive.
8. Thai people smile to express gladness, thank and greet people – hence why they are seen as such a happy nation. Try and crack a few – it isn’t difficult in Thailand!
9. Don’t touch a Thai person on the head.  The head is seen as the noblest part of the body and a sincere apology should be offered if someone’s head is touched unintentionally.
10. Public displays of affection should be avoided between men and women, and nude sunbathing is a huge no-no.
